Digital Crochet vs Vagaro

Both sides, from Vagaro’s own pricing page and ours. Including the parts where they win.

$49 to $349 a month · no per-staff fees · cancel any month

Straight answer first

What Vagaro is good at.

Vagaro is the cheapest full salon platform on this list, and it is not close. One subscription covers memberships, packages, gift certificates, inventory, marketplace listing and a booking widget, and the price stops climbing once you pass six calendars. If your first question is “what is the smallest monthly bill that still runs a whole salon”, the honest answer is Vagaro, not us.

If that describes you — a salon watching every dollar of fixed cost — buy theirs. The rest of this page is for the owner it does not describe.

Vagaro prices are the standard monthly rate for one location. Its page also shows a lower “exclusive rate for the first 6 months” — $23.99 rather than $30.00 for a single calendar, $83.99 rather than $90.00 at seven or more. The 7+ tier is the published price for any team of seven or more, so it is what a ten- and a fifteen-person salon pays.

Our column quotes the plan that size of business would buy: Starter at three, Growth from five up. Every plan has unlimited staff — the staff count does not force the plan. Starter has no packages or memberships; if you sell those it is Growth at $129 at every size, and Vagaro includes them at the prices above. Figures checked 17 September 2026. Competitors change their pricing; tell us if you spot a stale number.

Read this part twice

Where Vagaro beats us.

Above three staff, Vagaro is cheaper than us at every size on this page — $70 against $129 at five, $90 against $129 at ten and again at fifteen. That is a real difference every month and we are not going to dress it up.

At three staff our Starter plan is $49 against their $50, and a dollar is not an argument. It is not even like-for-like: Vagaro includes memberships, packages and gift certificates at $50, and on our side those start at Growth, $129. Read honestly, Vagaro is the cheaper subscription at every size in this table.

What we do not charge is a percentage of your card sales. Vagaro does not publish a processing rate on its pricing page, so there is no number to put beside that here and we will not invent one — work it out against your own card volume before you decide.

Switching from Vagaro

What the move actually looks like.

Nobody in this market publishes this. Here is ours, including the part that is not built.

Day 1 — you keep taking bookings

Your Vagaro account stays open and stays the system of record. We set up your services, your hours, your staff and your New York tax rate, and you carry on as normal. Nothing switches today.

Day 3 — your clients come across Coming

Automatic client import is not built yet. Coming When it is, it will be free, and this is the day it runs. Until then we agree a date and move your list by hand, and we will tell you honestly how long yours will take before you sign anything.

Day 7 — you stop paying two bills

You work a full week on ours with Vagaro still open behind you. If the week goes badly you have lost nothing. If it goes well, you cancel Vagaro — month to month, so there is nothing to buy your way out of — and the second bill stops.

Your clients keep their history, their notes and their appointments. We never list them anywhere, never contact them on our own behalf, and never charge you for one of them booking with you.

Straight answers

The questions people actually ask.

Is Digital Crochet cheaper than Vagaro?

Not at every size, and the table above says exactly where. Above three staff, no — Vagaro’s subscription is lower at every size in the table, and at three staff the $1 gap is not like-for-like because Vagaro includes memberships at its price and our Starter does not. What we do not charge is a percentage of your card sales; Vagaro does not publish its rate, so work that out against your own volume.

What does “no per-staff fees” actually mean?

Hire a fifth stylist, a tenth, a fifteenth — the bill does not move. $49, $129 or $349 a month depending on the plan, whoever is on the floor.

Do you take a percentage of my card payments?

No, because we do not process them. You keep your own processor and your own rate, and we take nothing. That also means we cannot fix a bad rate for you — we are simply not in that transaction.

Can you import my client list from Vagaro?

Not automatically yet. Client import is not built. Coming When it ships it is free. Today we agree a date and move the list by hand, and we tell you how long yours will take before you commit to anything.

What is not built yet?

The AI voice agent, online booking pages, SMS reminders and win-backs, the AI assistant, client import, and payment processing of any kind. Every one of those carries a Coming badge everywhere it appears on this site, including on this page.

Am I locked in?

No. Month to month, cancel any month. There is no contract to buy your way out of and no cancellation fee.

See it before you pay for it.

Call or send the form. We’ll show you the app, answer the awkward questions, and you decide after that. Month to month, cancel any time.
